Monstera care at a glance
- Native habitat: Tropical rainforest regions of Central and South America.
- Light: Bright, indirect light. If it keeps getting leggy and reaching, give it more light.
- Humidity: High humidity preferred, ideally 60 to 80%, but it will tolerate lower once acclimated.
- Water: Water when the top two inches of the substrate are dry, letting it dry out slightly between waterings.
- Toxicity: Toxic to pets if ingested.
- Substrate: A chunky, well-draining mix that lets air reach the roots. Monsteras love my Chunky Mix.
- Temperature: 65 to 85°F (18 to 29°C) for the best health and growth.
Tip from The Plant Lady: Fertilize at half strength with every watering during the growing season, and give it a trellis, pole or plank to climb.
